2023 Trend Watch: Appealing Arches in Home Design

In our annual review of emerging trends in home remodelling and design, JDR’s experts noted that “Modern angles are giving way to the classic softness and grace of curves and arches. Look for this trend in doorways and other architectural elements and in furniture and accessories.” Today we’re spotlighting recent JDR projects that emphasize curves and arches for inspiration!

Harmonious Curb Appeal
Inspired by a Spanish-style spa resort, the curb appeal of this La Jolla home communicates graceful charm.  Arches creating a covered patio effect are a distinguishing feature of the home’s new front exterior, along with exposed rafters, intricate tile details and iron elements. The design is enhanced by careful attention to repetition and symmetry.

Magnificent Traditional
A couple with three teenagers wanted the kitchen in their large home in Carmel Valley to communicate their sense of style and to accommodate their love for cooking and entertaining. The new kitchen makes a stunning design statement, now encompassing a new bar with a sense of classic elegance. Arched doorways throughout echo the front door of this Spanish-style home.

American Colonial Reimagined
Original character and a modern attitude make this delightful space evoke classic American Colonial design shine. The existing brick flooring adds warmth and character to the surroundings. In order to retain the integrity of the flooring, the island and appliances were kept in the same position as the original kitchen while completely transforming the look and feel of the space. The doorway from the kitchen to the dining room was transformed with a lovely arch.

Details are what make your whole home remodel or new home feel uniquely yours. When you collaborate with a professional team of architects and designers, you have the opportunity to explore how seemingly simple design elements can dramatically transform your home.
